Product Development Specialist

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to Business Segment Leadership, the Product Development Specialist (PDS) is responsible for managing and ensuring a seamless and successful experience for MFR teams and for our customers in the product sampling and product approval process. The PDS will have a dotted line to their Product Development Manager (PDM) counterparts from a day-to-day tactical task management perspective, receiving coaching and partnership direction. They will work closely with all functions (product development, design, supply chain, China team, manufacturing partners and client), and owns all facets of the sample procurement process including quality, adherence to specs, safety, and schedule requirements, including the management of communications in all stages of client approvals.

*Manage item details in the development, review, and pre-production phases for products which are shared with manufacturing partners.
*Organize and maintain sample & supplier requests (PLM) and send samples to factory partners.
*Conducts market available research with factory partners.
*Cross-functional collaboration on factory alignment within the development phase.
*Leads coordination with cross functional team to complete mock-ups & materials for customer presentations.
*Ownership of customer sample submission.
*Interface with product development, designers, supply chain, manufacturing partners and retail partners to ensure the products’ ultimate outcome meets specified retailers and in-house quality, testing, and costing requirements
*Be the primary point of contact during pre-production stages with retail partners.
*Be the cross functional resource for technical product quality reviews and product compliance (FDA regulations, product testing, etc.) with support from our China office
*Responsible for supporting accurate product details within the PLM system and retail partner systems to achieve best sample outcomes.
*Review and analyze factory samples in detail to problem solve item concerns as necessary and achieve final approval and/or pass testing requirements.
*Manage retail driven packaging processes
