Senior Business Segment Manager

To grow our Kids, Seasonal and Core business segment a minimum of 10% per year for the next 3 years.  This will be accomplished by leading 2 internal product development teams to create and deliver numerous trend right, innovative and financially successful product assortments.  This role has project management responsibility from initial market research and project ideation through production, shipment and sales performance of product. This position reports to the General Manager.

Outcomes

  • Drive business results by delivering to a P&L Budget for the segment
  • Lead the team to deliver strategic, compelling and trend forward design and assortments to fulfill customer need and drive business growth
  • Manage team and workflows to meet internal and external “Timing and Action” schedule(s)
  • Drive, track and report key deliverables that maximize customer satisfaction
  • Develop and utilize the practice of collecting and analyzing market and trend data, translating conclusions into actionable business initiatives
  • Strengthen business relationship with customers based on quality of assortments, trust and execution

  • Strong team leadership skills with a proven record of attaining team goals
  • Can effectively assess and assemble product assortments that deliver planned financial performance
  • Proficiency in analyzing, interpreting and reporting financial information to various audiences
  • Understands, anticipates and leverages marketplace trends
  • Understand and align customer needs to assortments
  • Ability to drive innovation while applying overarching initiatives to the product development process
  • Use of design thinking to problem solve and drive successful results for internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of driving business success
  • Experience working in a mid-sized company and high growth environment

Preferred Skills

  • Project management, team leadership, financial planning and analysis
  • Merchant approach to assortment planning
